Episode 5 – Eric Dieteren

Spring has come to the Netherlands!  It is tulips everywhere and I just came home from a rainy Paris where I had the pleasure to play in the centre Wallonia Brussels. I hope where ever you are listening to this podcast, that the winds of spring have reached you as well.

In today’s episode, my guest is a man who really loves to work. He started out as a Psychologist and then one day he and his brother, who is a violin player, started an orchestra and bought a church to practise in.

He has represented  big stars as a music manager and arranged concerts all over Europe. Right now he is managing the Drummers in Slagerij van Kampen. He is the musical coordinator of the music school Kumulus and works with the Bonnefanten museum here in Maastricht. Hold on this is not all, he is also owner, founder and director of ICON entertainment.

In this episode we talk about how to succeed in the music world. What does a manager look for in a musician, what to do and what not to do, we talk about success and failure. We also discuss how a good music school looks like and what makes a good teacher. What does he look for when he hires new staff?

I love this episode and it is so interesting to listen to someone that dares to dream big and realises his dreams.
