In a distant place in the Swedish forest lies a village called the “tune” village there in the sunny meadow lies a red cottage built in the old manners of a Dalsland house. Red coulure, with white decor. A surrounding garden is a magical place with nooks and crannies just about big engulf for a house-elf or two. In the little pound you can on a sunny day spot the salamanders playing with the weather fairies. The enchanted creatures of the meadow is not the only thing living here, because here is the home of Gun-Britt Gustafsson Lector in jazz singing at the Royal collage in Stockholm, singer, artist, choir leader and concert producer.

I hope that you are doing well and are as excited as me to hear this amazing meeting with Attila Pasztor who is a multi-talented musician who plays the cello like a powerful ancient god, composes music and he is also working together with violinmakers to develop the instruments, and at the same time, he is a product manager at Thomastik Strings. Buy me a coffee He is classical educated in Cello playing by Daniel Schafran. Attila plays a cello by Carlo Giuseppe Testore from 1697. He has done and won a lot of competitions: “Vienna Philharmonic” award, 1 prize at the “International Chamber Music Festival Austria”, 1st prize in the international competition in Liezen, 1st prize at the Bayreuth international music competition. He also went to the semi-finals in the famous Tchaikovsky competition, the jury that year was so divided that they could not name a winner. Attila works all over the world as a soloist but has his base in Vienna, Austria, where he takes care of producing the amazing Thomastik strings. He plays all kinds of music, classical to jazz, and when you first see him, his appearance is a very tall and muscular man that probably could be a bodyguard. At a closer look, you see his friendly curious eyes and realise that Attila is an amazing kind and friendly like a teddy bear but wild and adventurous in his artistic expression, always looking for new possibilities. In this episode, we talk about string production, cello playing, teaching and mentality. She is an Artistic Director of a fantastic concert series called the Opus 16 concerts. Michelle invites international Artist to play vibrant classical music in two local venues. Through music, she brings the world into the concert halls as the virtuous musicians perform the pieces from all of the worlds different time eras on all kinds of instruments. In her piano studio, Michelle is a proud teacher to 25 piano students, that weekly learn piano and personal development through the guidance of music. Michelle, together with her friend and colleague Violist Deanna Petre, leads a focus group called Mastermind for Musicians where they together brainstorm ideas on how to unlock your full potential. As a pianist, Michelle has performed and worked with the professional opera company Opera Zuid, Conservatorium Maastricht and given Masterclasses around Europe. She has participated in numerous competitions like the Helene Roberge competition, the Canadian Music competition, The Kiwanis competition and many more. I really enjoyed this interview as a mental trainer, cellist and just as myself. It is an inspiring interview and discussion. During three decades Alban Faust has performed on prominent folk music scenes throughout Europe, both as a soloist and with different bands. He has also built instruments and developed their design to a new level and brought back old traditional instrument from the dead. The instruments he makes are Swedish bagpipes and he has created his own design on the Nyckel harp called Alban Fast that is made in Vienna. His musical programs are varied and are adapted to every musical occasion. Alban’s instruments, the keyed-fiddle and the bagpipes invite the audiences to an amazing journey through his home district in Sweden:From the polkas’ magical rhythm, over the majestic harmonies of the wedding march to the melancholic sadness of the ballad. Jens Peter Maintz the cellist Paganini. A Star in the cello sky. Jens Peter Maintz has an outstanding reputation as a versatile soloist, popular chamber musician, and committed cello teacher. Originally from Hamburg, he studied with David Geringas and took part in masterclasses with other great cellists such as Heinrich Schiff, Boris Pergamenschikow, Frans Helmerson and Siegfried Palm. He was further influenced by his intensive chamber music study with Uwe-Martin Haiberg and Walter Levin.In 1994 he won first prize in the ARD International Music Competition, which had previously not been awarded to a cellist for 17 years. He is a master in competing and he even enjoys competitions, he says in the episode. Buy me a coffee He was principal cellist of the Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester in Berlin, and travelled the world as a member of the renowned Trio Fontenay. Since 2006 Jens Peter Maintz has been principal cello of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra, on the invitation of Claudio Abbado. Since 2004 he has been professor at Berlin University of the Arts, where he teaches an exceptionally successful cello class. Many of his students are prize winners in important international competitions and some hold leading positions in major orchestras. He also teaches is Escuela Superior de Musica Reina Sofia in Madrid sense 2017. Jens-peter also teaches in well-known master classes as Kronberg and Rutesheim cello masterclasses. For his Sony Classical CD of solo works by Bach, Dutilleux and Kodaly, Jens Peter Maintz was presented with an ECHO-Klassik award. His highly acclaimed recording of Haydn’s cello concertos with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen was released on the Berlin Classics label. Today’s episode is inviting us to the little village of Mersele in Belgium. Next to Antwerpen, the city of diamonds, lies the atelier of Anton Somers. It is a magical place where wood transforms to a singing work of art. Anton Somers, born in 1986, is a young violinmaker with an enormous passion for wood. He studied to become a furniture maker but then one day his family led him into the fine work of instrument making and Anton studied violin making in Antwerpen and now he is a violin maker and a teacher in violin making at the ILSA violin making school in Antwerp. His instruments are sold in Paris at Guy Coquoz or in London at Sean bishop. Anton shares some of his best trade secrets and his passion for varnishes and making different kinds of pigment on the wood in this episode. We also talk about how to take good care of instruments. Anton Somers’ instruments are played on by many great instrumentalists. You can hear the cellist Wojciech Fudala, playing a live recording of Antonín Dvořák : Rondo in G minor op. 94in this episode. You might know him from the Elisabeth competition in Brussels. Wojciech also released a new CD with cello and piano music by Mieczyslaw Weinberg (Wajnberg: Sonatas for Cello and Piano; DUX1545).
